Now that we know how these beliefs can undermine our progress, how do we change them?
First, it’s essential to notice when these thoughts arise and work on transforming them. Above, I listed a few common limiting beliefs, but there are many more.
- A great way to uncover yours is by completing the following sentence: “I’m not fluent in this language because….”
- Write down 3-5 reasons that come to mind.
- Then, examine your answers and ask yourself: What belief would actually help me in this situation? From there, jot down some new, supportive beliefs that can replace the negative ones.
